Profile

Don served in the USAF for 7 years. He obtained the highest security clearance in the USAF at that time. He completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He then became a state police officer from 1991 to 2007 and responded to 3 active shooter events. In 2003, he was recognized as the Law Enforcement Education Officer of the Year for the United States by the BATF (Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms) for his work in combating school violence. He has been a certified instructor in more than 20 state, federal and NSC programs. In total, he has taught more than 1,000 law enforcement courses and instructed over 50,000 people. He served the NSC as the Director of Government Program Development in 2007 and came to the North Dakota Safety Council in 2013. He has instructed more than 150 Active Shooter and Violence Prevention courses in 10 states and is a workplace and house of worship approved instructor by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
