SafeSource Direct LLC is a brand new domestic manufacturer of disposable nitrile gloves and PPE. The new company is a joint venture between Ochsner Health headquartered in New Orleans, LA and Trax Development headquartered in Northport, AL. SafeSource broke ground on their new 430,000 square foot glove plant in January of 2021 and by December of 2021, had completed the building and commissioned the first nitrile glove line. Eleven months from green grass to blue gloves! Simultaneously, SSD bought an existing 90,000 square foot building approximately 5 miles from the glove plant and proceeded to add 200,000 additional square feet. At this location, the company is currently manufacturing ear loop procedure masks and surgical tie masks that are FDA approved Level I and Level III. They also currently manufacture shoe covers and will be bringing on bouffants, N95 respirators and isolation gowns this fall. Additionally, they are vertically integrating by installing the equipment that will manufacture the spun bond and meltblown non-woven materials used to make these products from raw polypropeline to finished goods all under one roof.
