Safety Innovation Challenge

Musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are the most prevalent workplace injury, affecting nearly 1/4 of the world’s population. The Safety Innovation Challenge identifies MSD concerns challenging organizations and sources emerging technology providers to identify solutions.

This year’s six finalists highlight emerging technologies in the form of wearable sensors, exoskeletons, and computer vision. They are Reactec, Feraru, Hilti, LifeBooster, 3MotionAI, and Bioservo IronHand.  These innovative companies will showcase how their technology solves for risks at Hazard Stations in the Safety Technology Pavilion.

  • Hazard Station 1 solves for hand-arm vibration using a small hand sander.

  • Hazard Station 2 solves for overhead work using a peg board above shoulder height.

  • Hazard Station 3 solves for repetitive movement using a bolt, nut and washer board.

The finalists will demonstrate each tech solution and provide examples of how the solutions can be utilized across industries to reduce the risk of MSD injuries, specifically upper extremity work that includes repetitive movement and hand-arm vibration.
