Call for Speaker Presentations
The NSC Safety Congress & Expo is the world’s largest annual safety event. For more than 100 years safety health and environmental professionals have turned to the NSC Safety Congress & Expo for industry-leading products and technology, education and networking. We invite you to contribute to the professional development of safety leaders and submit a proposal to speak at the 2025 NSC Safety Congress & Expo in Denver, September 12-18, 2025.
Submission Requirements
- Proposals must be submitted via the online application and completed by Friday, January 3, 2025
- Presenter must be available to present in person on September 12-18, 2025
- Proposals must detail learning objectives and past speaking experience
- International submissions should focus on universal safety topics rather than those specific to a particular region or country
- Proposals will be considered in the following formats:
- 60-minute technical session
- 60-minute panel discussion (limit of 4 panelists per presentation, all panelists must be included with submission).
- Full, Half or Multi-Day Professional Development Seminar
- All presentations must adhere to NSC branding guidelines and use the approved NSC PowerPoint template.
- Presentations should include handouts and or other takeaways for attendees and are the responsibility of the speaker.
- If you are an exhibitor or consultant, we recommend your presentation include a customer to present with you. Proposals should not be a sales pitch and will not be considered.
No Commercialization
- NSC does not endorse commercial products or lobby commercial products for specific legislation. Speakers are not permitted to sell, promote or otherwise give significant exposure to any company or organization's materials, even if providing them for free.
- Advertising, informational literature, samples, etc., in meeting rooms, corridors, guest rooms, or other adjacent areas are not permitted. This restriction also applies to printed matter promoting sessions or activities of other non-NSC groups.
Technical Sessions
Preference in Technical Sessions is given to:
- A specific case study or successful project from the industry
- Provide information and/or guidance that is evidence-based
- Illustrate the use of technology to mitigate specific risks
- Speak to a professional or senior-level audience
- Pertain to the development of leadership and soft skill competencies for safety practitioners and professionals
- Share a personal story
Professional Development Seminars
Seminars are one to multi-day courses that require a separate fee for registered attendees. The seminars provide hands-on, in-depth knowledge-building career-advancing opportunities and must be delivered in a classroom-style format. Contact time for each instruction day should be the equivalent of 6.5 hours. If you are chosen to conduct a Professional Development Seminar the instructor will be paid speaker expenses to be outlined in a contract once selected.
Topical Submission Guide
Proposals should allow attendees to be actively engaged and include techniques and best practices from one of the tracks listed below:
Programs and processes that facilitate S&H reporting, metrics, analysis, incident learning, organizational learning, audits, program review, and S&H professional development.
Programs and processes that surveil and control or eliminate workplace hazards.
Programs and processes that identify and prioritize workplace hazards.
Programs and processes that assess risk, manage S&H documentation, promote worker health and well-being, manage S&H training and communications, ensure regulatory compliance, and manage maintenance, inspections, management of change, and emergency response plans and procedures.
Organizational leadership value of and commitment to safety and health and fully integrating S&H into the business process.
Transportation-related safety
Organizational culture that recognizes, promotes, and operationalizes safety and health programs related to worker protection, DEI, and external stakeholders.
Worker involvement in safety and health.
Attendee Experience
Our attendees consist of a diverse group of industry professionals with varying levels of experience and expertise. They include academic representatives, industry leaders, company executives, risk managers, government officials, human resource managers, industrial hygienists, facility managers, safety directors, fleet managers, union members and more from 70 different countries.
Geared toward the attendee who is new to the safety industry and has had little or no training (0-3 years experience).
Geared toward the attendee who has experience in the field and wants to build on it (4-9 years experience).
Geared toward the attendee who is considered a "seasoned" safety and health professional (10+ years experience).
Speaker Agreement
- Each speaker will receive a complimentary badge for the Full Conference & Expo. Access to the Professional Development Seminars requires a separate fee.
- Technical Session speakers will not be reimbursed for any hotel or travel expenses incurred.
- All speakers will be required to sign a speaker agreement upon acceptance of the proposal.
- All panelists must be included with proposal and are limited to a total of 4 presenters. NSC reserves the right to reject speaker changes and substitutions.
Deadline for Proposals
Proposals must be complete and submitted by January 3, 2025. All submissions will be reviewed by the Conference Program Committee and submitters will be notified of the Committee's decision by April 15. Presenters must commit to being available to present in person on September 15-17, 2025 for a Technical Session and Sept 12-14 or Sept 18 for a Professional Development Seminar.
